You know how yesterday I said I was tired?
I was very tired, and I had a bit of a sore throat, but I figured it was just a mild hangover/remnants of a cold I had a week or two ago.
This morning I woke up and it was a very bad sore throat. So I cancelled all my lessons and prepared to spend the day doing what I normally do when I’m sick. One of the moms I talked to asked me:
Student’s Mom: “Have you been to the doctor?”
Me: “No, it’s probably just a cold.”
SM: “Well, there’s a lot of strep throat going around. You sound like you have it.”
SM: “Yes, you really should go to the doctor and get some antibiotics.”
Me: “Thanks. I will.”
So I went to the walk-in clinic up the street and was seen by the doctor there, a brisk motherly Indian lady who was continually being interupted by one of her staff bringing her documents to sign or a plate of orange segments. She diagnosed me with bronchitis, not strep, and told me to go home and go to bed. Also that I had to come back the next week for a heart test, because my heart rate is too high or something.
So after getting my (mercifully generic and inexpensive) antibiotics, I went home and I went to bed.
OK. I’m going back to bed now. Let’s hope I don’t have to take tomorrow off too.
