As I lie here on the couch (too mosquito-y to be on the hammock), these are the various thoughts that went through my head:
– There’s something I have to do.
– Am I supposed to email someone?
– I should be making a puppet costume or something.
– Or working on that [BIG SECRET PROJECT]
– Where did those four new twitter followers come from?
– Maybe I should do some memorizing work.
– There has to be something I’m forgetting.
– Do I need to do something to the website?
– What am I forgetting?
I have a friend who, after singing jazz for a long time and having a really interesting and successful career, went to law school and became a lawyer. She just graduated last spring and is in practice now. I was hanging out with her a few weeks ago and I made some off-hand comment about lawyer hours v. musician hours. “Honey,” she said, “they’re pretty much the same.”
I guess lawyers don’t lie on the couch trying to motivate themselves to make an evening gown for a lamb puppet.
I took the dogs down to the beach this evening for a long walk. I passed the world’s cutest soccer game.
Picture about eight teams of three year olds. Well, I don’t know if you can call them “teams” in any meaningful sense…so picture a bunch of 3-year-olds in soccer jerseys of varying colours. In each corner of the field – well, park – two “teams” are milling around confusedly with a soccer ball. Each “game” includes one or two adults who are trying to coax the kids into kicking the ball.
It was really adorable. I think they should skip the World Cup next time and just show that. I know I could watch adorable toddlers try to figure out what a soccer ball is for HOURS.
In re: the first section, I just realized that I totally DO have to do something to the website. So, um, I guess I’ll do that now.
