So now that I have been in two operas in two weeks, you might think the fun is over and it’s back to the old grind of practicing and auditions and so on, but you’d be wrong.
Wrong, wrong, wrong!
The countdown – Eight Days of the Alligator – began, I guess, last Wednesday over on Caitlin’s blog…so I suppose this is Four Days Left of the Alligator. Anyway. Caitlin is an amazing composer – beautiful orchestrations in a beyond-jazz language – and she’s, um, three years younger than me and thus has absolutely no right to be this polished and accomplished and manage to get the rights to turn Sheila Heti’s The Woman who Lived in a Shoe into a mini-opera for two jazz singers and me, plus write seven new gorgeous songs.
There is no justice. Come to the show! I get to wear a poufy dress and a hat.
